NTU Flagship Day 2

We continued working on the DC motor today. There were many ups and downs as a few other groups shout in success they did it and the others, in air of despair, continue working hard on figuring out why the DC motor doesn't work.

After hours of scratching our heads and brain storming with the teachers there, we still could not get it to work so we had to abandon the project as it was time to go home.

I was really sad and disappointed with today's results as we could not figure out how to get the motor to work despite all our efforts put in.

Day 1 Reflections

Today at NTU, it was a fun and enriching experience. I learned many things I never would have learnt in a normal everyday Secondary School classroom.

There, we learned about DC motors, how they function, how to make an engine, to put theory into practice.

The first exercise we did was learnt he fleming's left hand rule.
It indeed proved useful in the upcoming second experiment where we used magnets to push away a suspending metal rod.

The Third experiment was the most fun but time-consuming experiment. It was to build a DC motor from scratch.
It involves many wire coiling and also assembling parts together to form a DC motor using magnets. At the end of the day, we did not achieve the desired result but we will continue working on the motor tomorrow.
